Mal Thursday and the Cheetahs: It's All Going By Too Fast - Mp3 Album

Chunk Archives proudly presents the long-unreleased 1992 album by Mal Thursday and the Cheetahs, featuring such nuggets as "Get Outta Dallas!," "That's Your Problem," and selections from "C.J. Sorrow: A Garage Rock Opera." While the band recorded 11 tracks with an eye toward an LP/CD release, only the profane holiday 45 "A Message to Santa Claus" and a version of "Ring of Fire" featuring Angry Johnny and Jim Joe Greedy were released. Now, more than two decades later, the Cheetahs' magnum opus is yours to download. Features the definitive line-up of the band, led by Mal Thursday, with Nelson Bragg (Brian Wilson Band), Chris Soucy, Ezra Gale, and Brent Nielsen, plus guest appearances by Jeff Conolly (Lyres) and Johnny Tomorrow (The Malarians). Produced by Sean Slade (Radiohead, Dinosaur Jr.) and Mal Thursday.

The Malarians: In the Cool Room & Know/Finished in This Town - mp3 Albums

Chunk Archives proudly presents the deluxe digital reissue of two releases from Mal Thursday's 1980s neo-garage band the Malarians. Widely regarded as the band's finest hour, the blistering five-track vinyl EP 'Know' was originally released in 1988, featured the band's classic line-up: Mal Thursday, Johnny Tomorrow, Bob Medley, Slater Awn, and Lime Ricky. The record went top 20 on the CMJ charts and sold out of its original pressing in weeks. The equally feverish 1989 live recording 'Finished In This Town' features only two original Malarians, Mal and bassist Slater Awn, and a more grunge-punk approach than the band's more polished studio recordings.

Hotel Massachusetts - mp3 album

$9.99 USD

The first Chunk CD was an attempt to capture the zeitgeist of the Bay State Cabaret, the live series that featured a tastefully curated calendar chock full of the cream of the Commonwealth indie rock crop.

From a now-deleted Wikipedia entry:

'Hotel Massachusetts' is a 1994 Chunk Records release compiling songs by some of the musical acts featured regularly at the Bay State Hotel, a now-defunct Northampton, Massachusetts venue, booked and MC'd by Chunk founder Mal Thursday. Its 23 tracks are notable for not only capturing a cross-section of the Northampton indie rock scene of the early 1990s, but for including rare tracks by then- or later-famous acts such as Sebadoh, Silver Jews, Lyres, and New Radiant Storm King.
